The Civilized Society (Modern Day)

According to Webster’s; Civilized Society isn’t in the dictionary. Fair Enough. Let’s get close enough.

civilized world

noun

: everywhere people live in well-organized and developed societies

a person known throughout the civilized world

Urban Dictionary says much of the same thing, but with more options; also Fair Enough.

The Purpose & Intent of Organized Religion

It’s possible to say that the intended purpose of anything years after it has been done, is simply to go by the outcome of it being so. It should be easy enough to look at the damage or progress made as a direct result of it being so. So it is.

Many have said that Organized Religion (OR from here on) is a means of control and isn’t it? For the sake of reference from an American, we head to the Bible. How does the Bible control? The Ten Commandments is the easy go to. Don’t kill or fuck thy neighbors wife, the basics.

Most civilized people living in modern society would likely agree that living in a civilized society generally means not being killed or having to deal with your neighbor fucking your wife. Or wait, maybe it’s more like you don’t or shouldn’t kill your neighbor for fucking your wife. Nope, that isn’t quite it either but it doesn’t matter.

The idea that may matter is that it’s quite possible that OR and Civilized Society (CS from here on) might just be the exact same thing for the purposes of enlightenment in this life. It could be argued that CS isn’t the same because there is no God, no standard for worship and the after-life while OR is a promise of life after death and connection to the creator. Okay, Fair Enough.

OR happens to be just as much of a promise as it is a threat. For all the guidance within the word, it has also been translated by man to heed warning after warning with the threat of everlasting damnation. Fair Enough that CS doesn’t quite go that far.

CS is about the here and now. The life we lead, example we set and planet we will leave our children with. Every good deed is ….. would filling in the blank be a reflection of OR or CS? Hard to say or guess isn’t it? Well, CS (though lacking the eternal after-life) does provide for Risk vs. Reward, Crime and Punishment and the American Dream. CS (much like the fellowship of the Church) gives oneself the platform on which to do great deeds, invest in Karma and utilize their own Free Will (should they choose to do so). Still not quite the same? One is way too much bigger than the other in terms of forever?

CS may not promise eternal life, but it does offer immortality. Of course, as is with Heaven, you must fulfill certain criteria. You must agree to a pre-set of terms and conditions that are for the most part, non-negotiable. In CS, in the American Dream, you are provided the opportunity to become wealthy with riches in terms of financial status, have and raise children and to become famous. All three of these lead to immortality in a CS. Your after-life in a CS is your funeral. The fact that you, human, mere mortal have the power and control to enforce what is done with your remains (physical and material) after death means that you live in a CS. Immortality in fame, through scientific proof of DNA, through traditions passed down to generations that will not have to choose between hunger and death or live by pure instinct in any fashion is human immortality.

Heavens and Hells with levels in eternal life. Reincarnation on what level or time or place or plane it falls into. Immortality through your remains to be determined by how many humans continue to reference you, your lifetime and the choices you made that created an imprint or ripple and how far it reaches. Not exactly the same but not significantly different either.

Wouldn’t it then make sense to say that the intents and purposes of things so similar in nature could also be the same? Fair Enough, there is such a thing as a stupid question. It’s stupid because you keep asking it in different ways hoping to change the answer or unable to grasp the answer. Stupid is as stupid does.

The Truth (Reality) of Organized Religion in America

So, for the intent and purpose of putting this into writing; whether you (American’s for sure) believe yourself to be religious or not, you belong to an OR as much as anyone else. There are always exceptions of course however, if you go to work, drink water that doesn’t come from a well your family dug, drive a car, pay your taxes, send your children to Public Schools and celebrate even one Holiday, you are in OR. CS is your religion and the IRS, the media, Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, your favorite politician and the mentors of your life are who you worship. You live in such a way as to either please or displease these Gods. You operate with an intention of what and how to handle your own immortality and striving to accomplish the ability to reach it before you accidently step in front of a bus or misjudge the potency of that next hit. You pray through means of phone calls, requests and endless piles of paperwork that prove just how civilized you are. You apply for or approve or collect on loans that have no value after death other than the effect it may make onto your immortality.

Practicing OR and living in CS may create conflict for some and more often than not cause them to compromise. Meaning, not being fully engaged in one or the other and thereby increasing the level of fear already associated with the threat of eternal damnation or nothingness. Suicide is a rational that reaches all walks of life; rich, poor, unknown, famous, believers and non and yet not seen as being a rational or response to the fear even though it could likely stand as the one truth to prove you belong to neither an OR or a CS. Suicide in itself is the ultimate release of control of after-life yet the complete control of life before death.

The purpose of OR is to farm. To save everyone’s soul. The purpose is to grown in numbers and be greater in the organization of it all. The intent is not to make people good or adhere to laws because that would mean that it’s intent would be to create CS but they’re one in the same. And if the intent and purpose of one only leads back to the other, finding the opposite could prove more revealing than the accusations and distractions that prove what isn’t.

The Expectations Of and For Organized Religion

Having established the notion that Civilized Society in and of itself actually is an Organized Religion, it should be obvious that when speaking in terms of members, it’s all of us. We all belong to Organized Religion and we all adhere to it in some fashion. If we don’t it’s essentially another suicide.

What is the expectation? Eternal life and immortality are the obvious. Blessings. Karma. As a member, having expectations is easy. An expectation of anything other than yourself is the ability to relinquish control. The ability to truly believe it’s out of your hands. That you aren’t big enough to change anything. Members may vote and elect but they do not slay leaders and take thrones in the dead of night. Members are sheep and in vast quantities will knowingly agree with and encourage others to be eaten by a pack of wolves rather than become a shepherd, carry a staff and walk away from the herd. As a member, you can live this life guilt free should you choose by simply following a few rules and not asking why. By simply having faith that when it’s over, you will have no control over what happens next.

The expectation for (not of) your chosen religion is to be Great. To continue to grow in numbers and multitudes and to save not only your soul, but those of your children and loved ones as their own immortality is fed and grows in this life. Members expect no great fall, no destruction to that of which they belong because they don’t control it, they are not responsible for it in it’s entirety and therefore live at ease and without fear of ignorance or extinction.

The biggest expectation for and of your Organized Religion is of course the promises. Promises that this flesh and blood will never see fulfilled. Faith is based on what is not seen, much like the accounting of our Government and Revenue Service. You believe that the insurance company will pay off that million dollar policy if you die on a business trip. You believe that through all your good works and upkeep on your reputation that your memory will not be blemished by a random photoshopped accusation after your death that simply isn’t true. You believe that your loved ones are looking down from Heaven and will open their arms and ask you to step into the light. And because you have these expectations, you have faith. You invest. You testify. You worship. You live without fear.

Yes, your own expectations create your faith which in turn removes the fear that was put into place by what again? Where does the fear of nothingness and death come from? The fear of never amounting to anything worthy enough to be remembered?

That fear originated from the seed planted by your Organized Religion. It was fed and watered throughout your civilized life and will grown or has grown so big that you gladly hand the control of it’s life over to the very care taker who planted it in the first place. Essentially, being soothed has only been accomplished by accepting fear, growing fear and being so afraid that you give up control. No control equals no responsibility and therefore, you are a member.
